About Me...

A warm hello to you, I’m Louise and I’m a qualified, registered and insured Nutritional Therapist based in Cheshire. I trained for three years with the College of Naturopathic Medicine and my level of training enables me to be a registered member of the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners and the General Naturopathic Council.

Mind, Body and Bowl Nutrition was borne out of my own family’s health journey.

Becoming a Nutritional Therapist was absolutely driven by my desire to future proof my children’s health. We are often brought to nutrition because of our own experiences.

Read my journey below...

My first son was born a ‘healthy’ baby but he stopped breast feeding at 3 months old and I could see his decline. He was diagnosed with a genetic condition at an emergency admission and several other health conditions. It was a MASSIVE shock. He requires lifelong steroids but is otherwise OK now. However parts of the journey affected his health when he was put on an antibiotic to prevent UTI’s which we gave him every single night for FIVE YEARS!!!!

The first, crucial five years of his developing microbiomes life.

The antibiotic ruined his gut health. He developed diarrhoea, skin rashes, digestive issues and food intolerance. Eventually I listened to my niggling instincts and became aware of the damage overuse of antibiotics can do to gut health and just how important the gut microbiome is in ALL health.

His doctors didn’t have answers about his microbiome and so I sought help from Dr Rangan Chatterjee, a functional medicine practitioner. We tested his stool then started to support his microbiome. I was thrown into the world of nutrition and it was like a light went on.

With simple dietary changes and additions, we resolved his diarrhoea and skin rashes. I am an avid researcher and I wanted to learn more and more to future proof my family’s health, so I re-trained.

Nutrition was my awakening that completely changed my outlook on how we live and what ‘health’ really is. My child has been my greatest teacher. He set me on this path to becoming knowledgeable about how to create true health.

He’s now a thriving, active, healthy boy with a healthy diet who enjoys all foods (with some upper tolerance limits for certain ones!) but the key is, we know this and can manage it well. Good health is a lifelong pursuit and when we are in touch with our bodies needs it becomes easy and instinctual.

I want this transformation for others who might be struggling. My purpose now is to empower my clients to achieve the same for theirs and their children’s short and long term health. Health is absolutely created by what we put into our bodies every day. Food and its nutrients are an encyclopaedia of information that the body relies on to keep it running optimally. When this gets shifted out of balance problems occur. You simply cannot ignore the relationship with wholefood and good health but there’s so much information out there and some of it can be contradictory, extreme or misrepresented. I simplify this for my clients so they can carve out the path that’s right for them.

A few years ago I experienced symptoms of fatigue, hair loss, low energy and de-motivation that peaked with my stresses. My GP couldn’t find any problem with my blood tests using their laboratory ranges so I used private blood testing. I used functional medicine laboratory ranges to look beyond ‘adequate’ and look for optimal levels of nutrients that promote health. I uncovered sub optimal ferritin, sub optimal B12 levels, sub-optimal thyroid function and positive antibodies for autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto’s) which was all tied to my own gut health. Autoimmunity can be improved by diet and by correcting my nutrient deficiencies, providing myself with enough of the nutritional co-factors required for proper thyroid function and improving my own gut health for absorption I was able to resolve the root cause of my symptoms.

Those skin, mood, energy and digestive issues are common but they are not normal. They are a sign from the body that something isn’t quite right. I show you how to take control of your own health.
